There are a lot of Digital Photography Lessons that one can learn. There are numerous topics to be covered in the world of digital photography and it can’t surely be learned in just one day. Lessons on equipment alone, and what each of the add-ons to digital SLR’s or cameras can do are just too many, let alone the various techniques that one can learn in photography. So today, let’s talk about digital photography lessons on touch-ups.
Probably one of the problems you’ll be faced with as you go along your digital photography path is touching up raw digital photos. While you will be considered a real digital photography genius if you always end up with perfect shots, sometimes, you will need a little help from those photo-editing software to come up with the effect that you really wanted. Sometimes, if you’re done with your photo-shoot and you no longer have the chance to retake, then you might just have to do with what you’ve got. Sometimes, all it needs is a little touch up and that’s we are about to learn here today.
We are going to discuss the basic things you can do to touch up your digital photos like rotating, cropping, adjusting color, and perhaps removing dirt or cleaning out some of the parts of the photo. Take a look at the following steps to get you started.
1.Open up your photo editor. It can be any of the photo-editing software that you are most familiar with like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator, Ulead PhotoImpact, the software included with your digital SLR or camera, and even the likes of Microsoft Photo editor or even Paint. It all depends on how complex your touch up would be, but basic photo editors that come with your operating system are enough for resizing and cropping photos.
2.Once you have your photo editor open, make sure to save a backup. That way, if you do something wrong with your picture, you always have the raw file handy. You can simply back up by selecting “Save as” in your digital editor to create a new file for that photo.
3.When you are taking photos of people, one of the things you can touch up is the red-eye, if it does show up in your digital photo. You can easily remove this with the red-eye removal tools such as that in the Paint Shop Pro. The program does the work for you. Ulead PhotoImpact has one too called the “Remove Red Eye” that can be found in your tool panel.
4.Rotating and cropping are pretty basic touch ups and you simply have to look for those functions in your photo editing tool. Crop the unnecessary objects or spaces in your photo or perhaps rotate the image if you took the photo from a different orientation.
5.Color can also be adjusted by changing the contrast, hue, and saturation. You can make your images lighter. You can even change the color mode into black and white, gray effect, sepia effect, or simply make most of the colors into purple, orange, or into whatever you want.
